Occasionally, new stainless steel bowls may have a residue in the bowl that cannot be removed by hand or dishwasher. This is a common occurrence from the mechanical polishing process used to make stainless steel shine. There is no 'polish' involved, the residue is not harmful and can be removed easily.
Before first use - put a small amount of olive oil in the bowl & spread around. Let this sit for several minutes before wiping out, you may see a dark/grey residue. After removing the oil, handwash the bowl thoroughly with hot water and detergent. Alternatively use a mixture of lemon juice & salt or a baking soda paste to clean the bowl.
Dry fully before storing.
